Annapolis Virtual Family Orientation

As parents, family members, and people who love and support incoming first-year students, we know you have a lot of questions. To this end, we have planned eight virtual family orientation sessions to provide you with information about living on-campus, academics, support services, health and wellness, and financial matters. Each session includes a question & answer period. Note: All times are EDT; Zoom webinar links will be shared in April.

Living On-Campus

Wednesday, May 22, 6–7 p.m.

Presenters: Chief Michael A. Boston, Director of Public Safety; Jen Cline, Coordinator of Student Services; Danielle Lico, VP of Student Affairs; Taylor Waters, Director of Student Services

  • Learn about how your student will be supported by the Student Affairs team as they settle into their small, residential community.
  • Gain an understanding about how roommates and residence halls are assigned and how to submit a request for protected class-based accommodations.
  • Hear about meal plans, laundry, the shopping shuttle, library services, community spaces, and safety both on and off campus.

Student Health & Wellness

Wednesday, June 5, 6–7 p.m.

Presenter: Nancy Calabrese, MSN, CRNP, Director of Student Health Services

  • Hear about available health and wellness services both on-campus and virtually, learn about the required health forms, and participate in a Q&A period regarding physical and mental health-related questions.

Your Voice Matters

Wednesday, June 12, 6–7 p.m.

Presenters: Danielle Lico, VP of Student Affairs; Dr. Amelia Arria; Dr. Malinda Kennedy; Kelsey O’Hara; Taylor Waters, Director of Student Services

  • Learn how regarding alcohol, drugs, and smoking, even when they are away at school.
  • Members of the will discuss emerging trends in substance use as well as provide conversation starters and tips for talking with your student.
  • Understand the College’s policy on drugs and alcohol, prevention strategies, support resources, and what you can do to help your student make healthy choices.

Financial & Money Matters

Wednesday, June 26, 6–7 p.m.

Presenters: Steven Bell, Director of Financial Aid; Pamela Francis, Student Accounts Manager; Jordan Klein, Assistant Director of Financial Aid; Sarah MacDonald, Assistant Vice President for Finance and Operations

  • Members of the Finance and Financial Aid Offices will review billing statements, payment plans, the fee schedule and financial responsibility statement, work study, and other topics associated with paying for school.

  • Hear about the many vibrant and diverse clubs and activities on campus that take place around campus and in the residence halls such as Swing and Waltz Dancing, Croquet, International Student Potluck, Sailing, Intramurals, Sicut Cervus, Volunteering, and Farm Club, to name a few.
