The College Events Office hosts numerous bands, performers, and classical and jazz music concerts every year. Concerts are usually on Friday nights in place of lecture, but occasionally are scheduled at other times. Recent concerts include Jacquelyn Helin, the Atrium String Quartet, Chip Miller, and the Manhattan Piano Trio. These concerts usually take place in the Great Hall. From time to time, the College Events Office secures and distributes tickets to events by Santa Fe Pro Musica and other local artists taking place at the Lensic Performing Arts Center. Students can look for upcoming concerts and events in the Ephemera or on fliers posted on the Student Activities bulletin board in Pritzker Student Center.
The College Events Office works with individual persons, groups and classes to organize and host parties throughout each semester. These parties include Halloween, Ark Party, Winter Ball, Fasching, and Reality.
Open mic nights are held occasionally in the coffee shop. Students are encouraged to show off their talents in poetry, music, comedy, and more.
With food, roundtable seating, decorations and mood lighting, students can kick back, relax, eat, and escape from weekend homework with cinematic events on campus. Most films are shown on Saturday nights, once or twice a semester.
Game nights bring students together for food, games, strategy, cartoons and mayhem! Once a semester, the Great Hall transforms into a boisterous environment of Chess, Jenga, Twister, Poker, Cards Against Humanity, jigsaw puzzles, Operation, and many, many more. Students can bring their own games, too!
The senior class, with help from the College Events Office, sponsors a social hour for upperclassman and faculty called Nabla. This event gives juniors and seniors a chance to interact with their tutors in a non-academic setting. Dates are announced throughout the academic year.
Student leaders, in conjunction with College Events, host Pub Trivia Night several times each semester. Competitive Q&A between teams amidst a friendly pub atmosphere. Held in the Coffee Shop.
College Events is always looking at opportunities to adapt to and meet the needs of the student community. As the interests of the community change, so to do the offerings of events. College Events works to support and promote one-off events initiated by individual students who are motivated to try their hand at creating events for the community to enjoy.
