The Mitchell Art Museum is located on the campus of St. John’s College, just a block from the Maryland State House and Maryland Avenue, and two blocks from Main Street and West Street. Our entrance and restrooms are barrier-free and ADA compliant.

By Foot: Walk to the corner of College Avenue and St. John’s Street. Proceed diagonally onto the campus, up the hill towards McDowell Hall. Bear to the left of McDowell Hall, walk across the Quad and down the stairs towards the large lawn facing the creek. The Mitchell Art Museum will be diagonally on your left as you descend the stairs.

By Wheelchair: From the Mellon Hall parking lot, head towards the back lawn where is a ramp up to the sidewalk. At the sidewalk, turn right and travel under the concrete awning (the egg-shaped planetarium will be on your left) and continue straight ahead. Pass the building extension with the floor-to-ceiling corner windows. Turn right through the double doors.

By Car—Friday Evening After 6 p.m. & Weekends: Visitors can park for free in the campus parking lots. The closest lot to the museum is the Mellon parking lot, which is off St. John’s Street, just north of Calvert Street. Once parked, walk to the lawn, turn right on the sidewalk, walk under the canopy, and proceed past the small brick seating area on your left. The museum will be immediately on your right.

By Car—During the Week: Parking is available at Gotts Court Garage, located at 25 Calvert Street, just two blocks from campus. Once parked, proceed to the end of Calvert Street, which ends at Mellon Hall. (The museum is in this building but you need to enter it from the other side.) Turn left onto St. John’s Street, walk ¼ block and turn right into the Mellon parking lot. Walk straight across the parking lot to a sidewalk at the lawn. Turn right. Proceed under the canopy and proceed past the small brick seating area on your left. The museum will be immediately on your right.
